You don’t have to be a Certified Cicerone to know that beer and food pairing can be a wonderful, multi-sensory experience. Beer dinners, with multiple courses each paired with a brew, are becoming more and more common. Pairing with food both enhances and brings out new flavors in a beer. Duvig Brewing Company of Branford, CT will be hosting monthly beer dinners the first Thursday of each month. The next one will take place on Thursday, December 8 at 6:30 and will feature a menu from La Cucina of North Branford.
Rather than taking place at a restaurant or similar venue, Duvig transforms the brewhouse into a dining room. Call it “fermenter-to-table”. Each dinner will be a partnership with a different chef. Last month’s featured Foe Foods of Branford, and there are rumors of a Caseus dinner in January!
A great perk of these monthly dinners is the price point. $55 for a four course dinner and 4 different beers is very reasonable, especially with the quality that is brought to the table. Also- any beer purchased that evening – whether its a pint before dinner or a fill of a growler – will be discounted by 20%. The menu for the next dinner is below. Cream Ale paired with Smoked Salmon on Potato Latke with Dill Creme Fraiche
Bock Lager paired with a Charcuterie plate of local cured meats and cheese from Olympia Farm
Pale Ale paired with Angus Sliders on Brioche with Wisconsin Cheddar and Sage Pesto Mayo
Oatmeal Stout paired with Chocolate Espresso Cupcake
Sounds good, right? Fun fact- Olympia Farm feeds their animals spent grain from Duvig’s beer! If these great menus continue, we’ll be keeping first Thursdays free indefinitely!
